Beyond Blue has introduced a new support service, specifically for people struggling with their mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beyond Blue is a mental health and wellbeing support organisation, providing support programs to address depression, anxiety and other related mental illnesses.

The organisation has designed the Coronavirus Mental Wellbeing Support Service (CMWSS), which it said is specifically designed to support people through the pandemic.

It comes as metropolitan Melbourne’s lockdown to address the virus was extended for a further 14 days.

“[The CMWSS] available 24/7 at no cost to callers and offers tips and strategies for self-guided support, referrals, information and support from counsellors briefed on the pandemic response,” the organisation said in a statement.

“Our well-known Beyond Blue support service continues to operate as usual, providing support for those experiencing suicidality, anxiety and depression.”

The organisation said both the CMWSS and Beyond Blue Support Service are staffed by “skilled mental health professionals”.
