Hume locals will enjoy new and improved sporting facilities this summer.

On Tuesday, October 18 , Hume council and the state government unveiled the redeveloped Gladstone Park Pavilion and Langama Park Recreation Reserve.

The state government allocated $400,000 in funding and council contributed $1.53 million to the pavilion project.

The government contributed $1 million to Langama Park, with council contributing $.175 million.

Hume mayor Carly Moore said communities would benefit from the redevelopments in the long-term.

The Langama Park Recreation Reserve includes upgrades to lighting systems, external facade, refurbishment and change rooms.

The upgrade to Gladstone Park Pavilion includes two gender inclusive bathrooms, a First Aid and trainers’ room, dual umpire’s rooms, a new kitchen and bar servery, new community rooms and an external covered viewing area.

“We want to see residents getting involved and feeling connected with their community, especially after spending so much time indoors and online over the last few years due to the pandemic,” Cr Moore said.

“Female sporting participation has also increased in recent years, and today’s redevelopment will encourage greater participation for young girls and women for the long-term future.”
