Bookworms rejoice – Little Library is back at the Melton train station permanently to keep literature lovers entertained.
Readers are encouraged to “take a book and leave a book” and foster a love of reading while strengthening neighbourhood ties.
The libraries were launched by Linking Melton South, a community-based movement facilitated by Djerriwarrh Health Services, earlier this year.
Chief executive Andrew Freeman said the Little Libraries project promotes literacy and reading and also helps to minimise waste by encouraging books to be re-used and donated.
“After hosting a ‘pop up’ Little Library at the Melton train station as part of a broader community project … Linking Melton South has now reinstated the library due to popular demand,” Mr Freeman said.
The Melton station Little Library is in a bookcase inside the station, and is accessible when the building is open, Monday to Saturday.
