A Mill Park playground has been brightened up thanks to a group of young artists.
The members of a Whittlesea council youth art group spent their recent school holidays adding a splash of colour to the playground at Roycroft Avenue.
Their creativity transformed an old brick building at the playground into a bright mural featuring hills and cactuses.
During the design process, the group learned that the area used to house horse stables and so incorporated horses into the design.
Mayor Ricky Kirkham praised the group for its efforts. “It’s fantastic to see a group of young people developing their skills and working to make our city look even better,” he said.
“Projects like this empower our young people to make a difference.”
The youth art group meets on Wednesdays from 4.30-6pm during schools terms at the Lalor library, and is open to anyone aged 12-20 from Whittlesea who has a creative interest.
