Six people from Whittlesea and Hume are among the 11 COVID-19 deaths reported in Victoria today.

Health Minister Martin Foley said three women from Whittlesea – one in her 70s and two in their 90s- as well two women and a man in their 70s and a man in his 80s from Hume had died.

It comes as a year 12 student from Roxburgh College reportedly tested positive to COVID-19 yesterday.

Mr Foley confirmed that four year 12 students, who were due to sit the General Achievement Test (GAT) yesterday- had tested positive for the virus.

He said that while he did not have specific details for each of the cases, the positive cases were “not unexpected, especially in communities of high transmission”.

“Those locations have had a public health response wrapped around them… we wish them well,” he said.
