A Broadmeadows company has helped a My Kitchen Rules (MKR) team to make 27 tonnes of cookies.
Modern Baking Company was tasked with helping South Australian team Lyn and Sal to turn their cookie recipe into a limited edition product to be sold in Coles stores nationally.
The team won the prize after their chocolate macadamia brownie was judged as the most delicious during an
MKR challenge aired on March 24.
Modern Baking Company’s sister company, Susan Day Cakes in Hallam, helped convert the winning recipe into one that could be mass produced, before the Broadmeadows company got to work making more than 27 tonnes of the cookies.
Modern Baking Company general manager Bruce van Twest said the company was thrilled to recreate the recipe so customers across Australia could enjoy the creation of Lyn and Sal.
Coles bakery general manager Jon Haggett said Modern Baking Company had been instrumental in giving Lyn and Sal the opportunity to see the cookies sold at Coles.
“To be able to manufacture large volumes of cookies with a soft and gooey brownie centre was not easy,” he said.
“MBC was the perfect partner for this challenge because of its quality standards and manufacturing ability.”
