Mernda man charged after pram hit and run

A Mernda man has been charged following an alleged hit and run collision which injured a toddler in a pram at Craigieburn last week.

The collision took place on Grand Boulevard, where a white Nissan Skyline allegedly left the road and struck two women, a child and a baby about 9.50am on Monday 30 May.

A two-year-old boy suffered a broken leg as a result of the collision while an eight-month-old baby was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The two women were not injured.

The three occupants of the vehicle, believed to be two males and a female, failed to offer assistance and fled the scene on foot.

Detectives have charged a 20-year-old man with theft of motor vehicle, reckless conduct, and various other offences.

He was remanded in custody overnight and will appear at the Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court which is sitting in Melbourne later today.
