Mernda man arrested following anti-lockdown protest

A 33-year-old Mernda man was one of two people arrested following an anti-lockdown protest in Melbourne’s CBD on Saturday.

The man was arrested outside Flinders Street Station after failing to provide his name and address.

A 48-year-old Caroline Springs man was arrested outside St Paul’s Cathedral after failing to provide his name and address.

He has been charged with three counts of resist arrest and two counts of breaching the chief health officer’s directions due to being more than 10 kilometres from home and not wearing a mask.

He was bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on October 28.

Eleven people were issued with penalty notices for travelling outside their 10km radius under the CHO directions and people were fined for failing to wear a mask.
