Meadow Heights man among arrested

A Meadow Heights man is among six people arrested by police this week following a series of incidents, including a stabbing in St Albans last weekend that left a man with life-threatening injuries.

Police said emergency services were called following a collision and armed carjacking at the intersection of Taylors Road and Kerrison Avenue, St Albans about 2pm on Sunday, December 5.

Police allege the vehicle collided with a second vehicle at the intersection and the occupants of the first vehicle then tried unsuccessfully to gain access to that car.

According to police, the group then headed further along Kerrison Avenue and subsequently carjacked a vehicle occupied by a lone female driver.

A 69-year-old St Albans man attempted to intervene and was allegedly stabbed a number of times, police said.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in a serious condition.

Police said the occupants of the vehicle involved in the collision were also taken to hospital for treatment.

According to police, the female driver of the vehicle involved in the carjacking was not physically injured.

On Monday, December 6, police executed search warrants at properties in Meadow Heights, Truganina, Deer Park, Derrimut and Taylors Hill.

Police said four men were arrested, including a 19-year-old Meadow Heights man, who has been charged with aggravated carjacking, assault and affray.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on March 19, 2022.

Police said officers also seized a number of items from the addresses including weapons, cash, stolen property and drugs.
