Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision between a car and pedestrians in Lalor last night which killed a 19-year-old man.

The incident occurred when the man and his sister were on a pedestrian crossing outside the Lalor North College on Childs Road just before 7.30pm.

The pair had already crossed two lanes and the centre median strip when the man was struck by the west-bound car.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man could not be revived and died at the scene.

The driver of the car, an 80-year-old Reservoir man, has been released pending further enquiries.

Investigators believe that a number of cars stopped at the scene but left before providing their details and are appealing to those drivers or passengers to come forward.
