Man helping police after fatal hit run

Police have charged a man following a fatal hit and run collision in Roxburgh Park on Sunday.

Investigators understand a pedestrian was struck by a light-coloured sedan on Silvester Parade and Pinnock Avenue about 11.15am.

It’s alleged the car did not stop and continued travelling east along Silvester Parade towards Roxburgh Park Drive.

The pedestrian, a 73-year-old man from Roxburgh Park, died at the scene.

A 20-year-old man from Roxburgh Park was arrested when he presented himself to police about 12pm on Sunday.

He was interviewed by detectives before being charged with fail to stop and fail to render assistance.

He is assisting investigators with their enquiries.
