Man charged re Roxburgh Park shooting and illicit firearms trafficking

A Roxburgh Park man has been charged following an incident in Roxburgh Park earlier this week where a man was found with a gunshot wound following a crash.

The male driver, aged 30 from Reservoir, was located after police were called to an incident on the corner of Donald Cameron Derive and Bridgewater Road about 7pm on July 13.

Along with injuries believed to have been sustained from the crash, the driver had a gunshot wound to the lower body. He was conveyed to hospital with life threatening injuries and remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 26-year-old Kalkallo woman, who was a passenger in the car, was also conveyed to hospital to be treated for minor injuries sustained during the collision.

Just before 5.30pm on Tuesday, a 30-year-old Roxburgh Park man was arrested in Kingsbury.

Police then executed search warrants at properties in Kingsbury and South Morang.

A 28-year-old woman was arrested at the South Morang address.

A handgun, an imitation firearms, firearm parts, ammunition, cash, a number of identification documents and substances believed to be drugs were seized from the Kingsbury property, while knuckle dusters and substances believed to be drugs were seized from the South Morang address.

The man was charged with a number of offences including internationally causing serious injury, recklessly causing serious Injury, reckless conduct endangering life and reckless conduct Endangering serious injury following the Roxburgh Park incident.

He was also charged with drug and firearm offences and theft of a motor vehicle.

The man was remanded in custody.

The South Morang woman was charged with multiple theft of firearms offences, trafficking more than two firearms, possess prohibited weapon and possess drug of dependence.

She was bailed to face court at a later date.
