Man charged following Epping police station incident

Police have charged a man following an incident outside Epping police station last night.

It is alleged the 54-year-old man approached the High Street station’s entry in a gold Holden Commodore sedan about 9pm on Wednesday, April 28.

The man allegedly mounted a footpath in the vehicle and pressed his car against two bollards before performing a burnout.

Police approached the man who allegedly spat on an officer during his arrest.

The St Helena man has been charged with seven offences including reckless conduct endangering serious injury, assaulting and resisting an emergency worker, refusing a preliminary breath test, refusing a preliminary oral fluid test, careless driving, driving in a dangerous manner and driving a motor vehicle causing loss of traction.

The vehicle has been impounded for 30 days.

The man will face Heidelberg Magistrates Court later today.
