Man arrested over Thomastown petrol theft

Police have arrested a man over the use of an allegedly stolen vehicle to steal petrol from a Thomastown service station.

Police were called to the Spencer Street service station at 12.30am on Wednesday, June 26, following reports a white Toyota Prius had been involved in the theft of petrol.

After patrolling the area, police spotted the vehicle near Lacey Street about 1am. Police then stopped the car on Dalton Road.

Police said the driver fled the car on foot but was arrested in Graham Court.

A 33-year-old Reservoir man is currently assisting police with inquiries.

Investigators allege that the Toyota was stolen from an address in Glenroy on June 12.
