Man arrested after Epping road rage assault

A man has been arrested following an alleged road rage assault in Epping on Thursday.

Whittlesea Crime Investigation Unit detectives executed a search warrant at a property on Narina Way, Epping, on Friday morning.

A 35-year-old man was arrested and is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

Police said the arrest follows a collision between a car and motorcycle on Narina Way about 8pm on Thursday, December 9.

It is alleged the rider of the motorcycle followed the vehicle to an address on Aranda Place and threw flammable liquid on the driver and his car.

Police will allege a lit rag was thrown at the driver as he exited the vehicle, causing his clothing and car to catch fire.

The 19-year-old Lalor man suffered serious burns and was taken to hospital where he remains, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
