Man arrested after $200k aluminum trailer theft in Campbellfield

A 39-year-old Meadow Heights man has been arrested after a trailer loaded with more than $200,000 worth of aluminium was allegedly stolen from a Campbellfield warehouse earlier this week.

Police allege a 45-foot flat-bed trailer carrying large aluminium poles was taken from outside a Sydney Road business about 5am on Monday, June 16.

The trailer was spotted just over 24 hours later being driven along Sydney Road about 2.10am on Tuesday.

Offices located the truck abandoned nearby on Cavendish Street in Broadmeadows.

A backpack containing $10,350 in cash was found inside the vehicle.

With the assistance of the Dog Squad, police tracked the alleged offender through a grassland area near Ripplebrook Drive, where he was found hiding in a creek.

The man was arrested at the scene and is assisting police with their inquiries.

Police believe a second offender was involved and are continuing their investigation.
