Local library wins in customer satisfaction

A new report from Public Libraries Victoria has found that Yarra Plenty Regional Library (YPRL) has the most satisfied customers in the state.

YPRL chief executive Nicole Rudden said this excellent result reflects its high-quality library service.

“We are lucky to have a community that loves what we have to offer,” Ms Rudden said.

The latest Public Libraries Victoria annual survey benchmarking report (2024–25) compared 51 library services across 64 indicators.

YPRL achieved Victoria’s highest customer satisfaction in the state with a 9.4 out of 10 rating.

This rating indicates that 94 per cent of the people using YPRL libraries are very happy with their library experience.

“YPRL invests in contemporary collections and learning activities that support literacy and life skills highly valued by the community,” she said.

The report also found that YPRL has the highest number of active members in any Victorian public library.

Ms Rudden said each year YPRL libraries welcome 1.4 million visitors and over 140,000 people attend their tailored events.

“This result hasn’t come out of nowhere.”

YRPL also ranked number one in mobile library and website visits, and came in second for program attendance and early years services.

Ms Rudden said she is excited about YPRL’s service expansions in 2026.

“YPRL is a growing library service operating in one of the fastest growing parts of Melbourne.”

Ms Rudden said YPRL will open new libraries in Rosanna, Donnybrook and West Heidelberg.
