Living Legends, Melbourne Airport lauded

Two Hume businesses have been recognised at the Victorian Tourism Awards.

The international home of retired champion racehorses, Living Legends, and Melbourne Airport, were recognised at the awards on Thursday, February 3.

The 2021 Victorian Tourism Awards awarded Living Legends silver in the Cultural Tourism category. Melbourne Airport was awarded silver in Major Tour and transport Operators.

Greenvale-based Living Legends also received a certificate of recognition for their ‘resilience to navigate the challenges of 2020 and 2021′.

Hume council said the visitor economy (tourism) is the municipality’s fourth largest economic driver and continues to show growth, with an output of $2.193 billion and over 6,500 jobs, contributing to the economic prosperity of the city.

Mayor Carly Moore said: “Hume City is proud to be home to a number of attractions, cafes, wineries and historic places, as well as Victoria’s primary gateway for travel, tourism and freight – Melbourne Airport.

“Hume’s visitor economy has an important role to play in supporting local tourism and enhancing liveability.

“Council is proud to support the visitor economy through a number of initiatives, particularly as we continue to navigate and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Initiatives include our 2020 Quick Response Support Grant during the first year of the pandemic, which allowed Living Legends to create a suite of virtual content and move into the virtual space.”
