Little libraries let loose

Bookworms rejoice – four “little libraries” have sprung up around Melton South to keep literature lovers satiated and entertained.

Readers are encouraged to “take a book and leave a book” and so foster a love of reading while strengthening neighbourhood ties.

The libraries were launched by Linking Melton South, a community-based movement facilitated by Djerriwarrh Health Services, last week at Combined Churches Caring Melton.

“The Little Libraries project promotes literacy and reading, and also helps to minimise waste by encouraging books to be re-used and donated,” a DJHS spokeswoman said.

Readers will be given a bookmark with every book, outlining the locations of Little Libraries in the area. One of the libraries is located at Combined Churches Caring Melton, 98 Coburns Road, Melton.
