The Environmental Protection Agency has handed down a fine to a Lalor company responsible for a soil spillage.

The environmental regulator fined Manrup $9246 for a spill that lasted several kilometres down Bulla Road, Bulla, that required a 13-hour clean up by the Department of Transport.

The spill took place in the early hours of February 26 as the truck was transporting a load of soil from the Westgate Tunnel Project depot in Yarraville to the receiving site in Bulla.

The EPA officers determined over 1000 litres of waste was polluted therefore warranting the large penalty.
