Voters in the new seat of Greenvale have elected Labor’s Iwan Walters to state Parliament.
According to the Victorian Electoral Commission, Mr Walters had secured 41.72 per cent of first preference votes as of Sunday afternoon, with almost 64 per cent of votes counted.
Mr Walters was leading Liberal candidate Usman Ghani 56.40 per cent to 43.6 per cent on a two-party-preferred basis.
The seat was consider to be a national Labor seat, with the party predicted to secure a margin of 22 per cent, however as of Sunday, there had been a 15 per cent swing towards the Liberals.
