The Kangan institute has been announced as a finalist in three categories at this year’s 2022 Victorian Training Awards.

The nominations follow the opening of the Broadmeadows Kangan Institute Trades and Skills Centre that cost $6.8 million and will support a number of students through their trade courses.

Kangan Institute chief executive Sally Curtain said the nominations in categories, ‘Large Training Provider of the Year’ and ‘Inclusive Training Provider of the Year’ is a reflection of the institute’s commitments to education.

“Students are the central focus of everything we do at Kangan Institute,” she said

“Our educators and staff are committed to supporting every student that comes through our door, regardless of age, ability, cultural background, gender or sexuality, so that they have the opportunity to succeed in their chosen fields.”

The third nomination in the awards is for automotive student Madison Giordano, who is up for Apprentice of the year and studies at the Docklands campus.

“Being shortlisted for the training awards is not something I ever expected, but I am excited to

see where this takes me and what I can achieve,” she said.

The Broadmeadows campus currently provides courses in trades, business, IT, justice, community, children’s services, hospitality, animals, plants and sciences.

A veterinary clinic opened at the Broadmeadows campus last year, while construction is under way on a $60 million Health and Community Centre of Excellence, which will open in 2024.

Winners will be announced on Saturday, September 10 at the 2022 Victorian Training Awards gala dinner ceremony.
