Join the Craigieburn SES

The SES Craigieburn Unit is on the lookout for passionate locals to join its dedicated team of volunteers.

Whether it’s responding to road crashes, conducting land searches, or tackling storm and flood emergencies, the unit plays a vital role in keeping the Craigieburn community safe.

Join Craigieburn’s SES for recruitment information night on Monday, August 25, from 7-9pm, and discover the rewarding volunteer opportunities available for people aged 18 and over.

Hosted at Craigieburn’s unit headquarters, located at 151a Craigieburn Road, Craigieburn, the information night serves as an opportunity to meet the crew, tour the facilities, and ask questions about training, roles, and the commitment involved. No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and a desire to serve the community.

Kevin O’Callaghan, who has lived in Craigieburn for over 40 years and helped to start Craigieburn’s SES unit, said the unit gets “lots of interest” for new members wishing to join in on the cause, fuelling the need for recruitment information nights.

“The sole purpose of these information nights is to understand what SES is about, what the commitment is and what our expectations are. We’ll conduct interviews and see who meets all the necessary standards and go through basic training,” he said.

“The aim is to get people to come along, find out about what SES does and to give them a clear understanding of what’s expected of them if they were to become a member.”
