Long-time Hume councillor Jack Ogilvie is in hospital after having a stroke early Monday.
Star Weekly has been told the Sunbury-based councillor was helping organise a community event when he took a turn.
Fellow councillor Jack Medcraft said he was in shock and urged people to pray.
He said the always-busy Cr Ogilvie had been under a lot of pressure in recent weeks.
‘’We just want to see him back doing what he loves doing,’’ Cr Medcraft said.
‘’That’s exactly what he was doing when this happened this morning … working for his community.’’
Cr Ogilvie is also president of Sunbury Lions Football Club and runs a greyhound supplies business.
A former Hume mayor, he first served with the former Bulla council in 1990.
