Investigation into death of Meadow Heights man

Police are appealing for assistance as part of their investigation into the death of a Meadow Heights man earlier this year.

Police were initially called to reports of a physical altercation at a residential building site on Supreme Avenue in Greenvale about 12.45pm on Sunday, March 30.

On arrival, they found a 42-year-old Meadow Heights man with facial injuries and a 48-year-old Craigieburn man.

After speaking with the pair police left the scene.

It’s believed the parties involved were known to each other.

Shortly before 4pm that day, the 42-year-old man was dropped at Northern Hospital suffering critical injuries.

Hospital staff subsequently notified the police the following day due to concerns about how he had obtained his injuries.

Investigators believe a further assault took place post the police attendance on March 30 and the circumstances of this second assault are still to be determined.

On Monday, March 31, the 48-year-old Craigieburn man was arrested and interviewed by police.

He was subsequently released pending further inquiries.

Police were notified on Tuesday, April 15 that the Meadow heights man had died in hospital.

On Thursday, July 17, police arrested a 58-year-old Taylors Hill man at his home address.

He was interviewed by police and released without charge pending further inquiries. The investigation remains ongoing.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have knowledge about the incident which led to the Meadow Heights man’s death and who was involved.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
