Hume and Whittlesea general practices and community pharmacies will be able to join Victoria’s vaccination push thanks to new funding.

Grants of up to $10,000 are available under the state government’s $5 million COVID-19 Vaccination Primary Care Grants Program, aimed at helping primary care providers, including in Hume and Whittlesea, increase the number of people they can vaccinate – whether it’s adults in need of a third dose or children aged five to 11 years getting their first dose.

With more than one million Victorians eligible for their third vaccination dose, and child vaccinations commencing on Monday, the grant expression of interest process has been extended until 5pm Monday, January 10.

Health Minister Martin Foley said the government was proudly working alongside GPs and pharmacies to help vaccinate their local communities.

“Doctors and pharmacists are part of the bedrock of our local communities – that’s why we’re making sure they have what they need to continue to vaccinate their communities keeping them safe,” Mr Foley said.

“We’re helping primary care providers deliver vaccines to Victorians through expanded services, increased workforces and extended hours.”

The grants are open to GPs and pharmacies authorised to administer mRNA COVID-19 vaccines, and will help primary care providers deliver vaccinations across 23 local government areas where there is lower primary care coverage.

More information on how and when to book your first, second or third vaccination dose, for yourself or a child, is available online.
