Hume seeks input on community centres

Hume council is calling on residents to help shape the future of two under-used community spaces in Meadow Heights.

The Meadow Heights Community Centre and the Visy Cares Learning Centre are said to currently be underutilised as activity and use has decreased, with council wanting to explore how they could better serve local needs.

In partnership with community planning group Communityvibe, council has launched a consultation process to hear directly from residents, families, and community groups about what services, programs and facilities are most needed.

Residents are encouraged to share ideas on the types of spaces that would support activities, programs, or events, as well as suggestions for services that could be offered locally.

The consultation aims to provide feedback to repurpose the otherwise unused community centres and guide council to improve the rate of use for the future.

Community consultation takes place between Monday, August 25 and Sunday, September 28 before community feedback is reviewed between October and November. Recommendations will be made based on the community feedback to council in December of this year.

Feedback can be provided via an online survey or by emailing participate@hume.vic.gov.au.

Council said the responses will help guide decisions on how to upgrade and repurpose the two sites, ensuring they become welcoming and useful places for Meadow Heights residents well into the future.
