Two Hume residents have been rewarded for getting the COVID-19 jab.

Hume council announced the winners of the first round of its vaccination incentive competition, encouraging residents to get fully protected against COVID-19.

Residents Tanya Clarke and Aimee Hammond received a $500 gift card each.

They were asked ‘what are you looking forward to doing in Hume City with your family and friends this summer?’.

Hume mayor Carly Moore said submissions for the competition have “blown us away”.

“It’s been incredible to see our community embrace this initiative to help break down stigma around the vaccine,” Cr Moore said.

“Every single Hume local that gets vaccinated provides greater protection against COVID-19.”

Round two of the competition is open now, offering the same prize.

“This week, we’re asking our community to share their favourite café or restaurant in Hume as a way to put the spotlight on our local hospitality businesses that have just reopened,” Cr Moore said.
