Hume council warns against political advertising on property

Hume city council has warned federal candidates against political advertising on council property including road reserves ahead of the 2022 election later this month.

Any political advertising signage found on council property, including leased premises or road reserves will be removed.

Candidates who have done this are being asked to remove the signage immediately.

Council officers will be removing any signage that is not permitted. Financial penalties based on the penalty units set by the Victorian Treasurer apply.

They are also required to have permits for A-board or to distribute leaflets.

Failure to comply can result in penalties to both the land owner and the candidate.
