Hume council is looking forward to the announcement of the state and federal budgets scheduled for this May, with hope that funding will be allocated to support projects and issues that benefit residents.

The goals set for Hume council require funding at both the state and federal level, including:

– A road network free of congestion.

– A more efficient and frequent public transport network.

– Access to health care services that can meet the growing demand.

– Schools and early childhood services, particularly in newly established communities.

Hume mayor Joseph Haweil said as Hume’s population continues to grow, the area will need vital infrastructure and services to grow alongside it.

“Council will continue to advocate for more funding to help us build better arterial roads, provide greater support for community health and to invest more into social housing,” he said.

“There’s never been a more critical time for both the State and Federal levels of government to invest in our growing community and to stimulate the local economy with the creation of local jobs for local people.”
