Hume council CEO resigns

Hume council chief executive Domenic Isola has handed in his resignation, just six months into a new four-year contract.

Mr Isola was appointed as chief executive in August 2007 and has been with the organisation for more than 20 years.

The council reappointed Mr Isola to the top job in August last year for another four years.

In a statement to council staff, Mr Isola said it was time to look to the next chapter of his life and explore new work opportunities after taking a break to spend time with family and friends.

Mayor Joseph Haweil said Mr Isola had an enduring energy, passion and commitment to the council and the Hume community which would be greatly missed.

“Domenic is one of the most highly regarded chief executive’s in local government and the achievements of the organisation over the past 13 years are a testament to his leadership – not only for our community but also for the entire sector,“ he said.

“He departs Hume council leaving an unparalleled legacy of achievement and delivery for the organisation and a strong and respected reputation in the local government sector.

“Domenic leaves Hume City with the profound appreciation of the mayor, councillors and staff and all those with whom he has had the pleasure of working with over many years.

“We looking forward to celebrating Domenic’s achievements prior to his departure. To name just a few that will have a long legacy in our community – the award winning revitalisation of Town Hall Broadmeadows, the construction of global learning centres in Broadmeadows, Craigieburn and Sunbury, the Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre, Craigieburn ANZAC Park and the development of the civic area in Broadmeadows.“

Cr Haweil said the council was yet to discuss leadership arrangements whilst the organisation commences the search for it’s next chief executive.
