Hume Clean Days extended

Hume council has updated the frequency of its Hume Clean Days, which now will be held across the whole weekend each quarter, not just Saturdays.

The next Hume Clean Days will be held on September 7 and 8 and the yearly schedule will now be the first weekend of March, June, September and December.

Council said this will make it easier for Hume residents to dispose of household waste and it provides residents an opportunity to take items to a Resource Recovery Centre without paying any disposal fees or using their annual waste vouchers.

Council’s Resource Recovery Centres in Campbellfield and Sunbury allow residents to drop off old and worn-out mattresses and couches, as well as car and truck tyres on the clean days.

Residents can also now drop off up to four cubic metres of organic garden waste at Hume Clean Days.

People who rent in Hume, homeowners and ratepayers who live outside of Hume are applicable to use the free waste disposal.

Proof of Hume residency or a rates notice is required at the entrance to use the services.

Last financial year, Hume residents used Hume Clean Days to drop off 427 couches, 790 mattresses, and 2187 tyres.
