Craigieburn Carol-goers will need to swap the picnic rug for a camp chair due to a last minute location change of this year’s carols.
Hume council made the decision to relocate the carols from ANZAC park to Craigieburn Central Shopping Centre carpark due to the wet ground conditions.
Concerned residents took to Facebook last night to express their concern about the new location.
One resident said the new carpark was an unacceptable location and described the decision as pure laziness.
“As if you couldn’t find any other grassed locations”, the resident said.
“If it’s a hot day – 30+ degrees you’re going to have kids sitting in the middle of the car park burning their bums, legs, hands … how many kids are you sending to hospital.”
Other residents were concerned about parking options, as Craigieburn Central Shopping Centre is traditionally a place where locals park for the carols.
Hume council has said that parking will still be available and there will be marshals managing the traffic via Central Park Road.
The festival will commence at 5pm this Saturday, December 3.
