Northern Health (NH) has been recognised at award ceremonies for excellence in multicultural care and as an employer.
On December 4, NH won the Diversity and Inclusion Enhancement Award at the 2025 Victorian Multicultural Awards for Excellence ceremony.
NH chief allied health officer Jason Cirone accepted the award, congratulating the cultural responsiveness committee.
“We are grateful for the recognition of the amazing work done to improve inclusion and safety for our patients and staff who are culturally and religiously diverse,” he said.
NH education and engagement manager Stefania Zen was also honoured for her work in transcultural and language services.
According to NH, it services people from over 185 countries who speak more than 100 languages.
On November 20, NH was selected as an Employer of Choice at the 2025 Australian Business Awards.
NH chief executive Debra Bourne thanked all members of the team, and said the achievement belongs to all of them.
“This award validates our commitment to creating a workplace where every individual feels valued, supported, and empowered to deliver exceptional care to our community,” Ms Bourne said.
According to NH, the organisation’s strategic plan 2025–2029 focuses on building leadership capability, promoting equity, and supporting staff wellbeing and resilience.
The NH 2024 people matter survey, showed an increase in employee satisfaction and inclusion, and a decrease in stress since 2022.
