Holiday bin collection and services hours

Changes have been announced to bin collections, council and library services over the holidays.

There will be no bin collection on Christmas Day, Thursday December 25, or New Year’s Day, Thursday January 1.

Bins will be collected one day later, with all other collections during those weeks also running one day behind.

On Monday January 19, the council is collecting pine Christmas trees for free, call 03 9217 2170 by Friday January 16 to book.

Wollert landfill is closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day, and will be open from 7.00am to 3.00pm on December 26.

Repurpose It, for green waste and brick recycling, is closed on Christmas Day, but open, with different hours, on December 26 and New Year’s Day.

All residents can use free or discounted waste and recycling vouchers to dispose of household waste, brick and rubble, green waste and timber waste.

Both the council civic centre and Whittlesea service hub will be closed from 2.00pm on December 24, Edge at Westfield Plenty Valley will be closed from January 29.

These will reopen on January 5, council can be contacted by phone as usual between December 29 and 31, and on January 2.

Yarra Plenty Regional Library has also announced all branches will close at 12.00pm on December 24, and will reopen on December 27.

There are normal opening hours on December 27 and 28, all branches are then open from 10.00am to 5.00pm from December 29 to 31.

Normal opening hours resume from January 2.

The last day of operation for the mobile library is December 23, and December 19 for the outreach vehicle, both return on January 27.
