Health and Safety Month coming to Thomastown

Staying safe on the tools and tips on how to create a mentally safer work site are on the agenda when WorkSafe hosts a tradies’ breakfast in Thomastown for Health and Safety Month.

WorkSafe will be at Dahlsens Thomastown on October 22 as part of its tour around the state promoting safe and healthy workplaces.

A free breakfast will kick off the event, which will include WorkSafe inspectors and specialists discussing ways to reduce or eliminate common risks in the construction industry,

including:

– Crystalline silica dust exposure and controls

– Using the hierarchy of control to protect employees

– Isolation of electrical hazards

– Trenching safety controls

– Safe use of elevating work platforms

– How to manage work-related fatigue

– Identification and prevention of workplace bullying

Attendees will also hear about local issues and be able to ask questions of WorkSafe experts before the events wraps up with a networking session.

WorkSafe’s state-wide roadshow will be followed by week-long series of webinars towards the end of October.
