People living in Melbourne’s north are being encouraged to have their say on the plans for one of the city’s biggest conservation parks stretching from Campbellfield to Beveridge.

Known as marran baba Merri Creek Regional Parklands, the parklands will span 2,778-hectare, making it larger than 70 Royal Botanical Gardens, according to the government.

The new parklands will connect parks and reserves from Campbellfield to Beveridge and will be valuable in providing open green spaces to the community for recreation, to get active, and to connect with nature closer to home.

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning is seeking community feedback on its vision and priorities for the the parklands until August 16.

This is the first stage of engagement. DELWP will consult the community on the vision and priorities for the parklands via the Engage Victoria consultation platform from 19 July 2022 until 16 August 2022. Details: engage.vic.gov.au/marranbaba
