Bradford Avenue Reserve in Greenvale is getting a makeover and Hume council is inviting residents to help choose the park’s future design.
The upgrade comes as part of a broader redevelopment of the reserve’s play space and sportsground, aimed at meeting the needs of Greenvale’s growing community and encouraging more active outdoor play.
While the sportsground improvements are already locked in due to space and technical constraints, council is seeking local feedback on the proposed play space designs, each offering different features to suit a range of age groups and play styles.
The current playground is now two decades old and is due for a renewal due to Australian standards, according to council.
Alongside new play equipment, the project will also bring along new and improved amenities to the reserve including seating, a barbecue and picnic shelter, and a drinking fountain, all designed in a bid to make the park a more inviting space for Greenvale’s growing families and visitors.
Council is currently weighing up three designs offering unique elements.
Option A includes monkey bars and a climbing cube integrated into a senior slide, encouraging strength-based and adventurous play for children up to 12 years old, while option B caters to a similar age group but features a climbing cube positioned further from the main slide in a bid to provide more variety for older children.
Option C focuses on younger play, introducing a proposed stand-alone cubby house for imaginative play.
Council says the designs aim to support children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development, with activities such as swinging, balancing, spinning, sliding and climbing incorporated into each option.
Residents can view the designs and vote for their favourite through the Participate Hume website. Voting is open until Friday, 19 December 2025, and participants must be registered to have their say.
To get involved, residents are encouraged to visit the Participate Hume website at https://participate.hume.vic.gov.au/.
