The Hanson Road reconstruction has begun between Creekwood Drive and Malcolm Creek Parade in Craigieburn.
Hume council is upgrading the existing roundabout at Malcolm Creek Parade and building a new roundabout at Creekwood Drive.
According to council the new Creekwood Drive roundabout will reduce vehicle speeds, provide safer crossing facilities for vulnerable road users and improve the operational performance of the intersection.
Additional upgrades include road reconstruction as well as improvements to kerbs, channels and drainage.
Council said the current road is in poor condition, reconstruction will stop the road from further deteriorating, reduce ongoing maintenance to the road, improve ride quality and enhance overall road safety.
Temporary road and lane closures, detours and reduced speed limits will be in place, bus routes will also be detoured.
Works are expected to be completed by mid-June 2026, weather permitting.
