Members of South Morang Football Club are growing their mo’s this month to raise funds for Movember.
The annual fundraiser involves growing moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide.
The seven team members participating said they were doing so to raise funds and awareness “for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives”.
Fundraiser captain Alan Robert said he was keen for the club to show support for the cause.
“I am participating in Movember to raise awareness around men’s health and hopefully, as a result, reduce premature deaths in men from things like cancer and suicide as we tend to wait until it’s too late,” he said.
“I decided that we should participate in the fundraiser as a team after a suggestion from our[football operations] manager Mark Muscat.
“We hope it can become a yearly thing.”
The team has an initial target of $1000, and have so far raised $580.
