From the basketball courts of Broadmeadows to water polo pools, a new wave of funding is helping women and girls across Victoria find their place in sport.
Whether it’s stepping onto the field for the first time or taking on a coaching role, the Change Our Game Community Activation Grants are igniting confidence, leadership and lifelong passion in community clubs right across the state.
Among the latest recipients is Broadmeadows Basketball Association, which will provide 60 multicultural women from three junior clubs with access to a nine-week program featuring closed basketball sessions and formal coaching accreditation.
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence said the latest round of grants would support more than 11,500 individuals across the state, with each club receiving up to $10,000 to create new opportunities for women and girls to participate both on and off the field.
“Victoria is proud to lead the nation in creating a level playing field for women and girls in sport,” Ms Spence said.
“These grants are supporting and inspiring participants across Victoria to get involved on and off the field in the sports they love.”
The program, which launched in 2018, has now delivered more than 700 grants totalling over $3.7 million to community sporting and active recreation clubs.”
