The state government has announced a $150,000 contribution to boost the Salvation Army’s 2022 Red Shield Appeal.
On Friday May 20, disability, ageing and carers minister Anthony Carbines announced the funding, which will go towards aiding the Salvation Army provide accommodation, legal advice, financial relief, trauma counselling and employment support to women experiencing family violence.
In 2022, Red Shield Appeal donations will provide support for those experiencing family violence.
In 2021 , the Salvation Army assisted more than 5,800 women and children across Australia who were experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, family and domestic violence.
Mr Carbines said: ““The Salvation Army makes an incredible contribution to communities right across our state and we are proud to support this year’s Red Shield Appeal.”
“We’re encouraging Victorians to dig deep because every donation to this year’s Red Shield Appeal will help to provide crucial support to some of the most vulnerable Victorians when they need it most.”
