Government backs continuation of Ride2School program

The state government has announced the continuation of the Ride2School program in the hopes to encourage more to get more students in Melbourne’s north and across the state riding their bikes, walking skateboarding or scooting to school.

Community Sport Minister Ros Spence made the announcement, with government investing $1.4 million to continue the partnership.

The funding also includes an initiative to encourage and reward schools to establish specially designated routes and bike education so that students can ride their bikes to school safely.

More than 400 Victorian schools took part in Ride2School Day on Friday March 25 this year and nationally almost 358,000 students participated.

Ms Spence said: “The students who take part in the Ride2School Program are showing all Victorians a safe and healthy way to get active in their local community.”
