There’s never been a better time to get the kids into gardening – and edible gardening no less.

Hume council has launched a new program, Let’s Grow Hume, to encourage residents to grow food at home.

Bring the kids along to the Newbury Child and Community Centre do learn about growing your own produce and enjoying time in the garden.

Activities at the event will include making newspaper seedling boxes, exploring worm farms, sowing seeds and making mini greenhouses from recycled containers.

Parents or carers with young children are required to register as spaces are limited. Participants will also receive free seedlings to take home and plant.

Head along to the free event on Wednesday, July 20, 10am to 11.30am.
