Whether you’re the proud parent of a golden retriever, a curious cat, or simply enjoy a peaceful stroll in the park, Whittlesea council wants to hear from you.
As it develops its next Domestic Animal Management Plan (DAMP) 2026-2030, council is inviting residents– pet owners and non-owners alike –to share their thoughts on the future of animal management across the municipality.
The plan will shape how the council handles issues like barking dogs, strays and dog attacks, and strengthen its partnerships with local shelters and welfare groups.
It will also outline how the council uses its resources to ensure people, pets and wildlife all thrive together.
“We are currently developing our next Domestic Animal Plan (2026-2030, and we want to hear from our community,” Whittlesea mayor Martin Taylor said.
Pop-up consultation stands will be set up across the region this month, including at Norris Bank Reserve Dog Park, Bundoora, Saturday, June 14, 9-11am, and Redleap Recreation Reserve, Mill Park, Sunday, June 15, 10am-12pm.
Cr Taylor said the goal is a “safer, more harmonious environment for all, where the rights and responsibilities of pet owners are respected, and the well-being of animals and residents is protected.”
“Together, we can foster a community where animals and people live safely and respectfully side by side.”
