Grant applications are now open for community and commercial event organisers looking to bring the Hume community together.
The grants support small community and neighbourhood events as well as major and established events.
Hume mayor Carly Moore said she encourages anyone with an idea for a community event to make an application.
“Our event grants give … the opportunity to bring people together to share in a celebration of our different cultures, interests and abilities,” she said.
The first round of funding will support events taking place between 1 July, 2026 and 30 June, 2027.
Small events up to 1000 people can receive grants up to $2000, while established major events can be granted up to $30,000 per year for three years.
Events can include cultural celebrations, sports, theatre shows, movie screenings, tourism and business events, and more.
“The diversity of Hume’s many community groups is the foundation that makes our municipality so engaging and vibrant,” Cr Moore said.
Hume council is hosting information sessions on the program and how to apply, the first session is on 29 January from 1pm to 2pm.
Applications for the first round close on 20 February at 4pm.
The second round will open later in the year for small and medium events taking place between January and July 2027.
