FRV crews to remain at Campbellfield chemical incident scene

Firefighters will remain at a Campbellfield factory for several more hours, following a hazmat incident.

About 55 Fire Rescue Victoria firefighters were called to the Nathan Drive factory about 10.30am, following reports of white fog coming from the factory.

FRV crews found a chemical reaction had occurred inside the factory, and evacuated people from the nearby area.

Firefighters escalated the response, with scientific officers, aerial support units and hazmat crews called to the scene.

The incident was brought under control in under two hours.

Firefighters are working with Environment Protection Authority Victoria, Worksafe, Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria at the scene to ensure it is safe.
