Four people arrested following drug raids across northern suburbs

Four people have been arrested following a series of drug raids across the northern suburbs.

Police executed drug warrants at addresses in Lalor, Thomastown, Coburg and Pascoe Vale on Tuesday in relation to ongoing drug investigations.

Police say that quantities of amphetamines and cannabis, as well as a pen pistol, cash and a significant amount of jewellery, were seized during a search of a property on Cypress Street, Lalor.

A 34-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with a range of offences, including trafficking and possessing a commercial quantity of a drug of dependence, prohibited person possessing a firearm, possessing cannabis and possessing proceeds of crime.

Police say heroin, a large amount of cash, jewellery and handbags were found at a property on Gaffney Street, Coburg, where a 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were arrested.

Both have been charged with trafficking and possessing a drug of dependence and handling proceeds of crime.

A 31-year-old man was arrested in Pascoe Vale, where police amphetamines, steroids, mobile phones and jewellery were found.

He was charged with trafficking and possessing a drug of dependence and possessing steroids.

Senior Sergeant Andrew Rouse, of the Fawkner Divisional Response Unit, said police would continue to focus on eliminating illicit substances from the community.

“We have zero tolerance for those who choose to introduce these harmful substances into our streets,” he said.

“Those who continue to partake in their behaviour can expect to face the full extent of the law.”
