Food drive for families

Craigieburn shoppers are being encouraged to add a few extra non-perishable items to their trolley next time they do a grocery shop to help support local families.

Craigieburn Central shopping centre has partnered with OzHarvest – Australia’s leading food rescue organisation – for a grocery drive until Sunday, August 1.

Craigieburn Central centre manager Christine McDonnell said the food drive is about encouraging the community to support local families.

“We’re pleased to be able to shine a spotlight on OzHarvest as part of this campaign,” she said.

“We’re encouraging customers to buy a few extra cans of fruit and veg when they next do the grocery shop and drop it in the OzHarvest collection boxes around the centre.

“These donations will go a long way to helping local families.”

The centre is also running a fresh food campaign to help support stores still feeling the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The campaign, running until Sunday, July 18, will celebrate fresh food and sustainability and encourage shoppers to experience tastes from around the world.

A free publication featuring giveaways, cooking and dining inspiration, and tips to fight food wastage is available to shoppers taking part in the campaign.
