A Thomastown company has once again proved its cheese-making credentials, winning 16 awards at the recent Dairy Industry Association Awards.

The annual awards recognise the finest diary and cheese products from across Australia.

The awards are judged by industry experts, with products recognised for their technical merit.

Floridia Cheese won the gold award in 11 categories including soft cheese, which is won for its Burrata, and the cheesemaker category which was won by its Ricotta. The company also won gold in the Buffalo product category for its Buffalo Ricotta.

Floridia also won five silver medals including in the soft cheese and Buffalo product categories.

Floridia production manager Fabio Portella said the awards validated the company’s hard work in developing its products.

“[The awards] are testament to the dedication to quality and following traditional cheese making processes and recipes,” he said.

“Floridia Cheese and the team are all proud to have achieved such success during the DIAA awards this year, especially being the 65th anniversary of the family owned business which commenced in 1955 from humble beginnings.”
